Who is Applied Green Light (AGL)?
Applied Green Light (AGL) is a Taiwan-based professional display manufacturer specializing in industrial, outdoor, and ruggedized LCD panels and display solutions from 2 to 75 inches. AGL designs high-brightness (sunlight-readable), wide-temperature, and NVIS-compatible displays, and provides custom backlight engineering for OEM and full-range display system-integration projects. Founded in 2008, AGL has focused on international specialty-display applications for nearly two decades, and millions of AGL panels are in service every day across professional applications worldwide. AGL is located in the Hsinchu Science-Based Industrial Park, Taiwan.
What markets and applications does AGL serve?
AGL displays are used in industrial automation and HMI, outdoor and public-information displays, military/defense and avionics, marine, medical, and embedded OEM systems — applications that demand reliability, readability in bright environments, and a wide operating-temperature range.
Does AGL offer customized or OEM/ODM displays?
Yes. Beyond its standard VM-series LCD panels and monitors, AGL provides custom display solutions — including custom backlight design, brightness enhancement, optical bonding, touch integration, and mechanical/interface modification — tailored to an OEM's requirements. AGL can modify an existing panel to meet a specific need, or design an entirely new panel and display system, making it a highly engineering-flexible display design and manufacturing partner.
Can AGL provide a complete, one-stop display solution?
Yes. Beyond bare panels, AGL can deliver a complete solution — LCD panel, backlight driver and control board, touch sensor, optical bonding, and mechanical integration — as a single one-stop display partner, which simplifies sourcing and ensures the parts are engineered to work together.
What certifications and quality standards does AGL hold?
AGL's products and processes conform to ISO 9001, CE, RoHS, REACH, and FCC requirements.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) and typical lead time?
Standard products are available for sample purchase and generally have no fixed MOQ; however, please factor in international freight — ordering by the full carton optimizes shipping cost, while ordering by the pallet gives the best balance of transport safety and freight efficiency. Lead time depends on the model and quantity, typically 2–12 weeks. For custom products, MOQ and lead time depend on engineering depth and component-management conditions — please discuss these directly with our sales team.

Display Selection & Technology
What is the difference between an industrial display and a consumer/commercial display?
Industrial displays are engineered for long-term availability, wide operating-temperature ranges, high brightness and sunlight readability, ruggedness, and stable long-life supply, whereas consumer panels prioritize low cost and short product cycles. AGL focuses exclusively on industrial and specialty displays, so its products are built around reliability and lifecycle support rather than disposability.
What panel sizes and resolutions does AGL offer?
AGL's VM series spans from 2.8-inch small panels up to 55-inch and larger, with large-format solutions to 75 inches. Resolutions range from QVGA and WQVGA through XGA, WXGA, and SXGA up to Full HD (1920×1080), plus non-standard bar/stretched formats such as 1920×720 for specialized layouts.
What is a sunlight-readable display, and how many nits do I need?
A sunlight-readable display stays legible under direct sunlight or bright ambient light. More precisely, "sunlight readable" means maintaining a legible contrast ratio under sunlight rather than simply maximizing brightness — good design optimizes the effective contrast. Using high brightness to achieve good outdoor contrast is the most cost-effective method today and is therefore widely adopted; in practical terms, a 1,000-nit panel is readable under typical outdoor conditions. AGL offers panels in 400, 1,000, 1,500 and up to 3,000 nits so you can match brightness to the deployment environment.
What is the difference between a standard and a high-brightness panel?
Standard panels (around 250–450 nits) suit indoor use, while high-brightness panels (1,000 nits and above) are built for outdoor or sunlit environments. AGL's Hi-Tni high-brightness series targets outdoor and semi-outdoor applications where readability under strong light is critical.
What is AGL's Hi-Tni technology?
Hi-Tni is AGL's technology for outdoor, high-brightness displays that must tolerate heat. Direct sunlight and high-brightness backlights raise the panel temperature, so Hi-Tni uses high clearing-point (high-Tni) liquid-crystal material and a matched design to keep the display stable and readable at elevated temperatures and under strong light.
What operating temperature range do AGL panels support?
Standard panels operate from -20°C to +70°C. AGL's Hi-Tni technology extends this to -30°C to +85°C, and for specific applications AGL offers system-integration techniques reaching -40°C or lower.
How long do AGL LED backlights last?
AGL high-brightness panels use high-efficiency, long-life LED backlight technology rated for around 100,000 hours or more, and brightness-control options can further extend service life.
Which signal interfaces do AGL displays use?
Smaller panels typically use TTL/RGB, while larger panels commonly use LVDS; AGL panels are also available with SPI, eDP, V-by-One, and MIPI interfaces. Monitor products accept standard inputs such as HDMI, VGA, and DisplayPort, and also DVI and SDI depending on the model. Tell AGL your host interface and the team will confirm the matching panel or control board.
What touch technologies does AGL offer?
AGL supports 4-wire and 5-wire resistive touch and projected-capacitive (PCAP) touch, as well as special constructions including anti-glare / anti-reflection / anti-fingerprint (AG/AR/AF) surface treatments, GFG resistive structures, and EMI-shielding measures. Solutions support glove and wet/rain operation, plus outdoor-specific options with anti-UV/IR and anti-salt-fog protection. Touch monitors are offered in open-frame, panel-mount IP65, zero-bezel, and fully outdoor constructions.
What is optical bonding and why does it matter?
Optical bonding fills the air gap between the touch/cover glass and the LCD with a clear adhesive, which reduces internal reflection (improving sunlight readability and contrast), increases ruggedness, and prevents internal condensation. It is recommended for outdoor and high-vibration deployments. AGL provides OCA and OCR optical bonding, including anti-UV/IR bonding countermeasures for outdoor environments.
What is an NVIS-compatible display?
NVIS (Night Vision Imaging System) compatible displays are filtered so their emitted light does not interfere with night-vision goggles, which is essential in defense and avionics. AGL offers NVIS backlights meeting the specific spectra defined by MIL-STD-3009 (for example Class A/B/C, Green and White). AGL also offers dual-backlight switching — a high-brightness, sunlight-readable backlight for daytime and an NVIS-compliant backlight for night — together with the matching integrated backlight driver board.
What is a Bar (stretched) LCD?
A Bar LCD is a non-standard, elongated aspect-ratio panel (for example AGL's 12.3-inch 1920×720) used for shelf-edge signage, transportation, instrument clusters, and spaces where a conventional 16:9 panel does not fit.
What is the difference between an open-frame monitor and a panel-mount monitor?
An open-frame monitor is a bare metal-chassis display designed to be built into a kiosk or enclosure by the integrator, while a panel-mount monitor has a sealed front bezel (often IP65-rated) designed to mount into a cutout and resist dust and water from the front. AGL offers both, including IP65 panel-mount touch monitors. In addition, AGL offers embedded display designs for system integration, including zero-bezel and fully-flat-surface constructions, combined with high brightness and outdoor touch for a complete display-integration solution.
Can AGL match or replace an obsolete/end-of-life panel?
Yes. AGL maintains full product-lifecycle control: customers are notified before end-of-life so they can place a last-time-buy order, and replacement options are discussed in detail. For EOL products, AGL can also provide signal and mechanical adapter designs. Send the original part number or specification and the AGL team will advise on a form-fit-function replacement.
Does AGL offer compatible replacements for discontinued industrial panels (e.g. Mitsubishi)?
Yes. AGL offers form-fit-function compatible replacements for discontinued industrial LCD panels, including Mitsubishi-compatible displays, adapting brightness, interface, and mechanical fit so you can keep existing systems in production.
